Question weird electrical problem

have a 2007 Sportsman 500 efi x2. with issues relating to electrical. I can turn the switch on and nothing. Then I go back about 2 mins later and there will be power. Cleaned the emergency switch, main ignition switch, etc. Unwrapped main harness. sometimes i wiggle and it goes on. then goes off. Really weird problem.l

Any ideas?

oh. battery cable was loose and has some arcing damage to battery.. Replaced with new battery. seems like a short, but don't seem to be able to find it.

Please don't post twice in both sections on the same subject.Post in one or the other. Hopefully have given you some things to check out on the intermittent power. http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...cate-post.html

Default No spark after flat battery

Hi can anyone help I left my 04 Polaris predator 500 in the shed for weeks and when I checked it the key had been left on and flat battery, now I have charged the battery it turns over well but no spark??

Can leaving the key on burn anything out??

The bike was running great before this. Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for this bike.

Could have caused electrical damage, but have the battery load tested first even though it turn the engine over. May not have enough voltage to generate spark. Plus you can do a basic check for any wiring damage. Beyond that a good manual for electrical trouble shooting should help. Here's one for 5 bucks.2004 Polaris Predator 500 Service Manual PDF Download

Default No spark after flat battery

Have completed the checks still no spark
Have bypassed the tether and the thingy in the throttle and still no spark
Have power to the CDI, also tested with volt meter from the wire going to the coil to ground whilst cranking and nothing, it is supposed to be 200v coming from there.
Have checked all the grounds all seem good.
Checked the resistance from the 2 wires coming from the pulse coil and seem OK.
Checked output from stator seems OK.
Have cut the black wire to CDI and still nothing, I would hate to buy another CDI and it is not that. Any ideas????

If you've had the battery load tested and it checks out ok,have voltage into the cdi but not out, then I'd suspect the cdi. I've seen this happen before, usually when batteries were jumped started and cdis were damaged.Could be what happened when the key was left on.
