Look, the bottom line is ALL quads have limitations. If you want to be a real aggresive rider and like jumping or going fast - Get a two-wheeler!

Use a quad for what it is intended for, fun riding and exploring.

I've been riding both for a while but mostly two-wheelers but I like quads too. It's just that once you ride a two-wheeler you will never be happy with just a quad, you will need both.

Hi Everyone:

Just got off of the phone with my dealer. Polaris is going to take care of the problem. I do not know if it was the dealer or polaris that went the extra mile to make sure that this was taken care of. I will ask the details later. I know I was a little harsh toward polaris but I feel that it was justified. I will be glad to get it back. I do not think I will take it jumping anytime soon. I am still going to follow through with getting another 4-wheeler to fullfill my need to fly. I do still think the scrambler is a great quad for what it is intended. I am still going to let my wife ride it and get rid of the TrailBlazer (I know what a guy ).

I have to wait 2 weeks for the repair and I am OK with that. I would like to know if I will be getting a new generation gearbox case or an original.

I am very greatful to polaris and my dealer for taking care of this under warrenty.

KD

It's nice to hear some positive feedback on your problem, Maybe in a few months Polaris will offer the machine you are looking for

Hey KD just giving you a yell. My trans case is still leaking from the 2nd time of trying to seal it. Sorry to here about your trans. Me and some friends are riding this Sunday. Just a few miles from where we rode the last time. If you can bum a ride get a hold me. Still havent straighted the bent Explorer. I have a new toy a VW Sandrail. Have you heard from the Hoosier Boys?

If you cant jump a scrambler 2 1/2 feet then it has NO RIGHT to be called a "SPORT" quad.

This is surely not gospel, but the opinion that I have is that maybe it's a belt drive thing. Seriously!

When you get air with the "other" sport quads, you have a gear drive. Thus you are already wound tight in that gear usually when you get air. The tranny, chain, & tires are NOT gaining speed,(read floating valves, rev limiter, whatever) just retaining the speed they had. Possibly gaining a bit but also possibly losing some too if you let off. By the way, even if you gain RPM while in the air, beyond "X" RPM your torque will fall flat on its face. Thus you actually have a lot less power when you come down.

BUT with the belt, unless you let off when you get air, that clutch is going to shift up fast with no resistance other than the weight of the tires/rims. When you hit the ground under power, well into the power band (motor did NOT overrev because of clutch shifting) with not only the tires spinning faster than the other guys but also the tranny and all rotating componants - something has to give. The tires will be more than happy to slow down to trail, speed, but the tranny has the motor fastened to it!

Now the tensioner thing sounds like a possible fix for this as it will absorb some of this instant shock. Also, a heavier output shaft housing too will certainly help. As I understand the Polaris trannies are built very tough / power output for "normall" operation.

Now knowing this hypothesis really isn't going to help you I don't imagine if you want to jump. BUT maybe TRY to let off the gas while in the air. Or get a gear. But this doesn't make this one junk. Just not well suited to that riding style.

I don't think the jump/landing has anything to do with it. I really think it's a belt thing. The belt is just doing what it was told. Although I can see times when I will wish that I could put it in 2nd gear and leave it there to go play for a while. As being a recovering Yammi rider I am looking forward to NOT shifting this year! I have a few miles out with the scrambler and like it (although I would rather have a 4 stroke). I feel that with the possability of not being able to play as good, the convieniances will be worth it.

Maybe they need to offer the scram in a 5 speed for the die-hard Polaris freaks that want to jump. Also it would make playing in pits easier too I think.
