hpd vs aaen steering dampner
#1
I tried the HPD 7 clicker steering dampner & then tried the Aaen steering dampner. I think the HPD is a waste of money & the Aaen is worth every cent. I put both on the heaviest setting & ran both over a set of 6" high vertical rocks pretty fast & the HPD set up almost ripped the bars out of my hands. I did the same thing w/ the Aaen setup & I felt hardly anything & I even did the Aaen test w/ a sprained wrist. While on the quad, the HPD unit does not slow you down at all when trying to twist the bars as hard & as fast as you can but the Aaen you can adjust it up where it definatly slows down the quick movements which is what you want. As a side note, the Aaen has cooling fins & 2 grease fitting & the HPD has none. The Aaen is ~$25 more though. The pistons on both dampners seem to have the same tension on max setting except that the Aaen is leveraged differently & thus more resistance. As far as duribility goes, who knows but for those of you looking into a steering dampner, I thought this might help.
