Head light assembaly swap
#1
This may sound silly but i would rather have the light setup on the sport than on the scrambler. I don't really do night riding and visibility through the handle bars when i am ducking for branches is not good. Can this be done easily or maybe i should just loose the lights all together ?

I'm sure you can switch them. My dealer offered to put Scrambler lights on the Sport if I would have bought that. I love the Scramblers lights. I feel like I can hide behind them
When I ride my girlfriends TB or my brothers 400EX I feel like I'm on display because the lights are so low. Almost like I'm riding naked ! For any of you ladies out there, sometimes I do ride naked. But don't call the game warden it's not a Anaconda, it's only me

I think Ron M. did this to his Scrambler.
Here is the picture.

I thought about doing it to mine, but after seeing the '99 Sport (I mean Scrambler 2x4), I would rather mine look different. Too bad there isn't a black hood with a headlight.

Hey Chris, Just go buy the hood for the 00 Scrambler400 2x4, then it will look OEM. I think polaris should of kept the Scrambler 400 white and made the 2x4 400 Scram the color of the sport but solid yellow. Now when I see one on the trail from a distance I don't know which they are riding. Heck, did anyone see the OCT. issue of dirtwheels pgs 40 & 41, they could not even tell the difference between the 400 and 500 scramblers. They are backwards, look at the oil cooler on the 4stoke 500 on pg 41. Chris it should be an easy swap you might need to swap the cables from the main switch to the light off of a 00 scram400 2x4 also.

Chris,
I had the Scrambler light kit for my Sport about two years ago. I found that I could rig the lights to run all three at once on high beam. I ended up taking them off because they weren't really putting out that much more light. I ended up putting a 100 watt H-3 halogen bulb in the original headlight. To tell you the honest truth, the 100 watt light put out more light than all three lights combined. I just wished that Glen Clark would have told me this before I spent the money on the Scrambler lights.
If you really want to go the hood headlight route, make sure that you get a 100 watt H-3 bulb for it. The total cost shouldn't be more than $50 for the hood, light and bulb ( the bulb is less than $5)
Another option is to use some sort of projection lights as I have. I removed the oil injection from my Sport and since I am running a Scrambler 500 hood I needed lights to stay legal here in PA. I found a set of small 55 watt clear projection lights at an auto parts store near me. I hooked them up and they work great! Check them out on my web pages!
Good Luck

I have looked at Mike's web site and I cannot find these so called lights that are so well hidden. Where the hell are they?
I too have a sport 400 abd am running the stock H3 55 Watt bulb. Seeing as the light lens is plastic I am concerned that the 100 Watt will melt the lens. It get really, really hot in there. Especially when sitting idling. My Trail Boss 250 has a melted lens in it from the previous owner. I presume this is how it happened.
