Default sportsman doesnt display that its in high

2004.5 sportsman 400 with the digital dash.

our sportsman doesn't display that its in high gear even though high works fine.

the "H" does display when the whole dash lights up when I turn the key on.

obviously a wiring problem as far as I know, is it likely to be the switch at the gearbox or inside the headlight/dash box on handlebars??

a whole wiring diagram for this machine would be perfect as the reverse override button doesn't work either.

Not unusual for these rotary pin gear selector switches to fail, plus I've found several that had small cracks allowing water in.If you haven't already done so,you can remove the connector, clean the thing up and use a little electrical grease and see if the high range shows on the display. Here's a 2005 manual which the 2004.5 basically is that can help on wiring issues also.2005 Polaris Sportsman 400 Service Manual PDF Download

thanks a lot for that link! I found something similar for our kingquad, sent it to an office supply store and they printed and put it in a binder for like 30 bucks or something like that.

we will definitely check that connection, as I saw the H once for like 1/2 a mile, just wanted to make a post about it before it gets its turn in the garage over the winter for service.
