I got this 2001 trailblazer recently and it ran fine. Then one day the recoil hook stayed out and broke the whole recoil. I bought a new complete recoil assembly and put it on. After I put it on the recoil felt locked up, so I hit it with a mallet and its started to work. The thing is, when I tried to start the fourwheeler the recoil still stays engaged. Any help?

 

you are going to have to pull it back off. sounds like the dogs that engage the recoil cage. maybe the center bolt/nut is too tight and not letting the dogs retract back into the assembly.
