Default 06 700 ranger hard start

when I got the ranger it would not start at all and had 2 codes for air temp and tbap, so I replaced the pigtail harness with the new one cleared codes changed plugs now I can get it to start but only with my foot on gas pedal, after it starts it will idle and run great just cant get it to start like a normal efi machine, I checked fuel pressure its right on 38psi, I know on the 500 I can hear tps after key shut off I hear nothing on this one when key off, any help Im leaning toward tps but it has no codes now??

Tps harness wiring could have a short, same as the thin wiring on the tbap. You might give this place a call, but doesn't show a kit for the Ranger 700.Only The Best If it is a tps problem and the sensor has to be replaced,it has to be set at a base vdc, then the supposedly "tamper proof" D style idle adjuster has to be set at a final vdc idle reading. Polaris still shows it to be part of the throttle body assy, not listed separately but are shown on ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Polaris-TPS-Throttle-Position-Sensor-Ranger-Sportsman-RZR-700-800-850-/181601001171?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a48435ed3&vxp=mtr

opt is there a way to check the tps, I would think sense the wires are so small I would hate to do continuity by probing the wires, can you take loose that elbow and hit the key to see if I get movement from tps?? or would the Polaris wrench software test it, as I have access, (brother inlaw owns Polaris shop here).

Only accurate way is with the tps adjuster kit that includes a 9 volt battery, regulator and harness kit. As far as I can remember testing of the internals of the tps(spring, etc) were to use a meter and the kit, slowly open the butterfly and slowly close it. Voltage should drop slowly, not erratic. Not sure if you can get the tester/adjuster kits after market now or not,but this is the one I had. https://polaris.service-solutions.co...82&cat=1&sub=6
If you have a brother in law that has a Polaris shop, don't pull your hair out, take it to him!!

got it fixed just wanted to give update,
tbap harness was bad, also plugs were fouled, I took it to Polaris and they pluged it up and the tps was out of adjustment on the computer it needed to be 3.2 I guess that was degrees he was looking at then he adjusted the idle, which fixed it. but he was telling me Polaris dosent want anyone messing with that d screw for idle, they just want to sell you a new throttle body, which the blade in it is worn that's why its out of adjustment, he said they wont even give them that tool to adjust it, he did it with needle nose pliers. hopefully it works for a while longer before it needs a throttle body . and as always thanks opt I appreciate your advice !!!
