What about the front clutch, plus have you changed/checked the belt? Yes worn rear ramp buttons in the driven clutch can cause most power loss problems along with stretched/glazed belts. Carb can cause problems, but if it idles ok,accelerates ok,doesn't stumble, bog or leak, may not be a carb problem.

New plug. Messed around a bit.
-Choke was not fully disengaging - fixed
-Sucks allot of air, enough to stall it out when snap the throttle- plugged over 3/4 of air box with my hand it seemed to help. Should I turn thie screw inward?

Install a carb kit. Have the air screw at 2 turns out. Float arm sets level with the carb body.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Xplorer-400-4x4-1995-Carb-Carburetor-Kit-Needle-and-Seat-Included-/381227338243?hash=item58c2eb8a03&vxp=mtr Plus here's a couple videos on your carb that can help.

Carb done, idles good, no more bogging goes about 50 mph now. Could the 25" swamplites be dragging down the speed/ power? I know that they are a heavier tire, but not that heavy.

With stock tires on the old Explorer 400s when new, top end was around 55-60 that I remember. Age as well as clutch, belt condition can affect it as well as different size tires.Main thing is carb is ok and no more bogging. Others that may have the same tires can give you more info on them.

Thinking of increasing the wieght by one size. Ride in muck and skeg and want to stay on top not going down highway. From what I understand I should get some additional wheel speed faster but may suffer top speed.

It's good to know I got this thing in good form again. Thank you polaris tech.

Thank you for the help Tech. Good to know is close to where is should be. Want to add wheel speed sooner so may go one size bigger weights. To help clean out the muskeg.

Through my forum readings I hear to expect some loss with these particular tires.

This is the trail machine due to comfort. I keep the 1986 TRX350 for the rough stuff
