Going old 87 trail boss brake issues
#1
Okay so picked this up not running, new gas touch of ether and fires up idles drives ect.... but can't stop
When I take the cap off the fluid sprays out of the lever after I depress and let go of the handle.
Take a brake line off and almost no fluid comes out but the the fluid pour back out of the master cyilinder. The brakes wont move at all, I have yet to even get any resistance on any of the brakes. Also I took all the lines off and blew threw them, not very much air came out but all of them had the same rest acne of air flow
Any ideas what to do?
If I could even buy a lever and just get the rear brake to work I would be happy

You must have an 88 model as the 87 had drum brakes.Try using a mity vac to bleed the calipers starting at the rear first then moving to the front calipers. If the calipers are frozen, piston and seal kits are still available.#3 on the parts break down. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse No master cylinder rebuild kits available on these old models if needed. The master cylinders on the 88-90 models up date to #2020073.Plus this master cylinder fits many newer models also.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Front-Left-Brake-Master-Cylinder-New-OEM-400-425-500-Scrambler-Magnum-/360779520900?hash=item5400229b84&vxp=mtr

If that's too much for you you can get an aftermarket replacement for $110 that's styled after the later models than yours. Should work,I suppose or it least it says it will.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/POLARIS-ATV-LEFT-FRONT-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-LEVER-BRAKE-LIGHT-SWITCH-/131483279067?hash=item1e9d039edb&vxp=mtr Or take chance on a cheap Chinese that come as a set for 27 bucks.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-8-Motorcycle-ATV-QUAD-DIRT-BIKE-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-CLUTCH-LEVER-US-NEW-/311352809607?hash=item487e12d887&vxp=mtr And yes I stand corrected.. The 87 Trail Boss 250 4x4 did have the hydraulic master cylinder. The 250 Trail Boss 2x4 showed using drum brakes..
Tooo long ago.. Plus they do show rebuild parts(if still available? ) but usually these old master cylinders corrode inside making a repair kit worthless.Items#24,31,33,34,36.http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...1987&fveh=5329

I have a Chinese one and have a way to hook up at least the rear caliper, by any chance do you know the size of the rear brake bleeder screw? Mine was missing (was sealed but its gone)
I did find the part number but no size and hoping car-quest or Napa has the size i need.....If i knew the correct size

Nope can't remember the size off hand, just that the same bleed screw has been used for years. Takes a 5/16 wrench on the head, but that's no help on the the thread/pitch size. You might take one out of the other caliper and match it up at Napa.

THanks!!! I ended up buying like 4 diffrent ones lol, and now im not even sure what one it was, but someone had already drilled out the hole, and thats why there was no bleeder in there....
Btw there is what looks like to me a air breather tube for the 2cycle oil little clear tube, Where does this go???? It keeps pouring out oil....It is not the black 1/4 or 5/16 hose that is going to the little injector pump thing.

Funky oil tank on this model is located where the coolant tank is on the 4 strokes in later years.Vent tube needs to route up to keep it from dripping oil when the tank is full. Item #26.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Far as the vent tube, i figured but i didn't also want to find out its something else and then destroy the motor.....
