I have one bolt left to split my case apart on my 03 sportsman 700. There is a rubber mount in my way I can't get a wrench on it it's too tight a fit. Only thing with some force I can get on is a 1/4 in socket with extension. I am afraid I am going to snap the wrench the bolt is on so tight. I can't get anything else on it. I am sure you ran across this how do you pros do it?

There is one bolt right underneath that. you can't get a wrench on it. A socket will fit but no room for anything else. I can get a 1/4 in socket and extension about 9/10 the way on if i pry it to compress the rubber. But I need something with a little more beef to crack the bolt loose. Or should I just risk breaking the 1/4 setup.

You do have the engine out of the frame, correct? If not, that aint the way to split the engine.

Just take a big old pair of channel locks and grab the engine mount on the metal part close to the engine and remove it. It's not a solid mount. Each stud end is molded into the rubber.

Oooops, that usually doesn't happen.. Now you get to drill out the old stud. If you don't have a set of these,I'd get a cheap set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/15pcs-Screw-Nut-Extractor-Set-sk-1037B-BOLT-REMOVER-/181660902688?hash=item2a4bd56520&item=181660902688&vxp=mtr Plus these are great if you have enough of the stud to pull. Should be able to get them at Harbor Freight,Northern or a good auto store.http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-PC-STUD-PULLER-REMOVER-WRENCH-SAE-SIZES-SOCKETS-/290598205316?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a900b784 Both have come in handy for me over the years.

Yes I have some work to do now. Guess it's just all part of the fun. Last time I used an ez out I snapped that too. What a project getting that out!
