Hi all need to know why my tach runs down to 0after start up and then stays there. When starting up unit the pod goes through the sequence then the tach just goes to zero. It started at about 110 and just counts down .checked the red and white wire opt told me about on pin 7 it looks good where do I check it at the other end. Thanks all ahead of time.

 

Pull the speedo connector,unsnap it and check that all pins and wiring are secure. All it takes is for a pin to push back,wire not secured to cause a faulty speedo function. If the connections and pins check out ok,the manual gives you pin by pin electrical checks in the speedo section. mr. opt I checked the red and white wire and pin for the tach could you tell me where to look for the other end of it .where do I find the start of the wire so I can trace it out thanks

 

This is where the wiring schematic in the manual can help also along with the speedo pin check list. Main source of signal for the tach starts at the stator,ends up being processed by the ecu module then to the display is about all I can remember. This 5 buck manual can answer all your questions on this and any other problem that comes along. That's why I push them on people all the time.
