Default 2004.5 polaris sportsman 700 twin efi voltage regulator

Can anyone tell me if a 2005 voltage regulator work in my 2004.5 bike. Been looking all over for one for my bike, and cannot find one.

Best I can tell from the Polaris parts list is this is the first year efi in 2004.Considered a 2004.5 model. Regulator shows to be this part number.#4011024. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detai...P-4011024.html Apparently discontinued and updated by this one and mounting has to be modified. http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/ca...ator-Rectifier

Default Voltage regulator

Thanks for the advice Old Polaris Tech. I'm new to Polaris and to this site, the 700 I have only had 58 hrs. on it and 275 miles on it when I bought last Nov. Ran great the first 5 times out ice fishing, then would run 15 or 20 min. then start to run really rough. After cooling down, I did a battery v running check which turned out fine. After running it until it started acting up, I did another v check and the voltages jumped around anywhere from 19v to 29v. I took the volage regulator out and it looked like it had heated up, possibly causing it to fail.I'll order one and let you how it works. Thanks

Default Volage regulator

Just put in the new Voltage regulator I found thanks to OPT. The bike (2004.5 polaris 700 EFI) runs great. The only problem I have now,is the tach reading almost always reads 0. Ran it hard with no problems.

Thanks twood

Speedo is supposed gets it's signal through the regulator from the stator for rpm,but if not possible with the updated regulator, then small price to pay for it at least charging correctly. You might recheck the wiring to see if you can find if the problem is in the wiring or speedo head..
