Default Polairs 500 HO rim and tire swap

I've been looking to upgrade my tires and rims on my Polaris 500 HO. I want to buy new tires and rims and don't want to break the bank doing it. As I am 16 and have to work a long time to do that. I want something that will do well in the mud and will be good for trail riding too but isn't too aggressive that it will tear up my yard. I Don't want to spend more than 500 bucks. Any help would be nice if this is even possible

Or could I just buy a new pair of the stock tires and leave the rims alone. I just want the maximum performance out of it. Would an exhaust be better

I'm assuming you have the stock steel rims. Check craigslist in your area. Can usually find new take-offs pretty cheap. Depending on how/where you ride will determine sticking with the stock 12" rims or moving up to 14" rims. Mud/rocks/etc I'd stick with 12" which gives more sidewall. Hardpack/trails/cornering you will have a better ride with 14" rims. Also watch ebay as you can sometimes find some really great deals on tire/rim combos.

Don't waste your $ on an exhaust if looking for more performance. Unless you start messing with programmers and big bore kits you will see very minimal performance gains (just sounds cooler/louder).
