2005 700 Sportsman Injector Stuck Open
#17
"The ECU compares the input signals to the programmed maps in its memory and determines the appropriate fuel and spark timing requirements for the immediate engine cycle. The ECU then sends output signals to set the injector duration and ignition timing for that engine revolution. That equates to one output signal from the ECU for every RPM, which can be over 6,000 times per minute, or 100 times per second" This is from the manual and in it self the Ecu isn't designed to be serviceable. This module has also been updated.Usually that happens for a reason. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse You're dealing with a module that's around $475 bucks and something I wouldn't hastily jump out and purchase even if you're pretty sure you've traced it down to that. That's where the Digital Wrench software can either confirm your findings or could possibly come up with something else that is the problem. Plus on a lot of these machines a new ecm has to be flashed/calibrated to even work right. We experimented in the shop with swapped ecms on a couple problem machines and had to use Digital Wrench to flash them. When we switched them back to the original machine, had to reflash them again.. Unless you love to tear into modules to track down faults,I'd still spend the hr labor charge on Digital Wrench. Same as any electrical part if you buy one and it's not the cause of the problem,it's yours, can't return them.

Man I'd be lying if I said I could remember every problem that was solved by reflashing or installing a new ecu and reflashing it. Again the updated part number is usually for a reason. Problems on the old ones or some internal updates were needed. You might get lucky with a used one,but then again? Guess I was a mechanic too long.. If it was mine, knowing what I know now and also what I went through,I'd cool my heels and wait (if you possible can) until the first opportunity you can have it hooked up to the software.
