That might have been retail price. You can buy a new Sportsman 850 for probably around that price or less. But if he bought all the accessories at the same time, it could very well be the actual price. That adds a lot of extra cost to a new machine not to mention paying full retail price for the addons.
The only downfall I can see is it looks like the neighborhood you live in would not allow you to take it for a ride around the block ! LOL...That's part of what I love living in the country, I can cruise around the streets for miles, in my neck of the woods around the block is about 4 miles, each block is a 1 mile stretch. Welcome to the off road club, take it slow and enjoy, its a lot more fun when no one gets hurt. Don't be in a big hurry to "try" anything crazy, get the feel of your machine. Sounds like you got a nice one! Always wondered though how well all that camo holds up to wear and tear?? Sure looks cool though!
Was able to get out to ATV area here in Nebraska on the Loup River. Good time.
Just five minutes in to my maiden voyage I managed to get stuck in a nice mud hole. Thank goodness I had a winch. Buried right side up to top of tires...left side still on dry ground. Got a foot full of mud. (should have snapped a pictures, but i was a little nervous i wasn't going to get un-stuck)
Sent this pic to the wife
Fun riding around the sandbars on the river, but i prefer trail riding like we did in Colorado.
This was my first time on the river and I was surprised to see pretty much everyone riding in swimsuits, water shoes, no helmet, etc.
Of course I'm there with long pants, helmet, goggles, gloves, boots, etc.
A lot of the people I see out riding don't wear much protective gear. I have even seen a few that reglect it at riding parks where it is supposedly is required. A lot of the trails I ride on are heavily wooded and its pretty common to get smacked in the face with a tree branch. Not long ago I was going under a tree down on the trail and didn't duck enough and conked my head on it. If I hadn't been wearing a helmet, I probably would have knocked myself out and gotten a concussion.
I should wear a helmet while mowing grass. I banged my head on a nub yesterday concealed by fluffy green leaves and heard a crack. Not sure if it was my scull or the branch! LOL!
Oh well, maybe it'll make me smarter!

I don't know MT.... My experience is that the hits tend to knock sense out of the head rather than into it...
