grease fittings not taking grease and a few other question
#1
Hey folks. I just got a 2011 sportsman 550 eps touring. I'm doing some maintenance and have a few questions.
1. The fluid capacities stated in the manual don't seem to be accurate. I can't get the diffs and tranny to hold as much as the manual says. I asked this on another forum and got a reasonable answer, still some old fluid in there, not as much room to fill. Seems logical.
2. The quad came to me with spacers and a lift. I cannot get grease to go into the lower part of the A arms. I wonder if they are toast, or if this is a common issue after a lift ( holes not matching or something).
3. The quad came to me with a bucket of goodies. In there are new brake pads in the package. They are KPG brand. I read some bad stuff online. You think I should put them in, or just go buy OEM?
Thanks in advance. It is nice to be part of this community now.

Manual quotes for fluid capacities are what it took to fill up when new and completely dry. Confuses a lot of people on this.Same thing on the older models when they said 5 ounces for the front diffs. I was barely able to get 4 ounces in. On gear cases and diffs fill to the bottom of the fill threads and it will be fine. Zerk fitting may be stopped up with dirt. You can try a needle or small nail back and forth in the ball bearing and see if it takes grease afterwards. If the pads are designed for the machine I'd run em since you already have them. If they don't last(probably wont) then for next brake job go to Ebc or some other good quality brake pads.
