800 Sportsman EFI Starting issues
#1
I have a 2006 sportsman 800 EFI and this last month I have had to jump start it every 2nd day. But yesterday when it would not start I bounced up and down on the seat and it cranked over. I checked the connections on the battery and they were all tight. I thought it was the battery but when it started that was I figured it had to be something else. Anyone have any suggestions

I'd check the solenoid connections along with the starter wire. All it takes is a little corrosion on it. If these check out head for the fuse block. This is an area that we had the most trouble with because of vibration and water and dirt. Pins can corrode, wiring can pull out and not make good contact. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse PER-080&029&036-4 ATO / ATC Delphi Fuse Block Panel 4 Gang 12 V Blade Style Fuse Plus up from the relays is a circuit breaker either taped to the harness or in a sealed pouch. Check that it has power on each side of the red wire.If in doubt, cut the pouch open and check the breaker. Even though sealed they can corrode and cause intermittent power to the relays and fuse block itself. Here's a good one compared to some that have seen their better days.
