Default Scrambler 500 front brake issue

Ever since I bought this 00 scrambler 500 I've had an issue with the front brakes. The squeeze of the leaver is very hard and it doesn't stop very well at all. What I've tried so far. Replace the pads twice thinking the cheap set I bought the first time was the issue. Bled them roughed up the rotors for better bite. Cleaned and lubed the pins. Polished the pad pins. And the brakes still suck. I've replace a lot of pads in my time and have never had this trouble. One thing I notice is the pads wear uneven. Not just each pads thickness but the inside pad wears from one side to the other. I have no problem replacing parts but I don't want to guess and throw money at something if I'm unsure of the issue.

The pad wear makes me think the calipers are worn out. Please help.

Definitely sounds to me like the piston in the caliper is seized. Might be a rebuild kit?? Probably easiest to just replace the caliper

On top of what Big600twin mentioned, pump up your emergency brake pedal, hold it down and squeeze the hand brake. If you can feel pressure on the pedal then possible the two small seals on the rear caliper may be leaking or sucking air.1999 2002 Polaris Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild Repair Rubber O Ring Seal Kit 122 | eBay People sometimes forget that this is a split system with pressure going to the front and rear calipers. If the small rear master cylinder has bled down,no firm pedal, this can be another reason. Rebuild kits for these are on ebay now also. Plus when you install the front pads and bleed the system, you need to adjust the caliper bracket set screw. While turning the rotor turn the set screw in until you feel a slight drag on the rotor then back off 1/8 turn. This helps align the caliper bracket to the rotor and adjusts the inner main stopping pad.

If OPT's suggestions still yield a hard pull at the lever then it's time to look at the master...
