Unfortunately with Polaris you have to keep hounding them. I've been really lucky that the 2 dealerships by me are awesome. They have always gone out of their way to take care of me.

What machine do you have? Assuming it's a 1000 with the exhaust issue. Going to an aftermarket will clear that up without a tuner. Polaris can reflash your ecm too which supposedly helps a bit.

I drive past 3 Polaris dealers on my way to Sun Motorsports here in Denver (1.5 hour for me) because the other three dealers are all a TOTAL JOKE

My 2014 XP1K has been recalled and I CRINGE thinking I have to take it to a Polaris dealership for ANYTHING

Extended warranty is not worth the paper it is written on UNLESS You have a good dealer at your back.

Not very many good Polaris dealers left
Not many of these threads online regarding Polaris and their dealers are positive
Yes I realize we always post negative feedback and for everyone of these threads there are 10000 happy polaris owners

Problem is YOU PAY good $$$$$ for warranty and then they never want to cover anything

There are decent reliable and honest ATV shops out there, FIND THEM AND USE THEM
Some of them are dealers!!
Reviews of dealerships are avail for you to read before you even go in their door

Sadly it seems the bad dealers are outnumbering the good ones. Im lucky, I have two good dealers within 20 mi utes of me.

Just sad because they can break a product.

it's a long time ago, now but if i remember right the 800's( i had 2 different years) they had the same issue w/ the exhaust turning cherry red because of a lean condition, so polaris re-mapped the ecu to make them richer and that helped bring the exhaust temp. just a thouight but if it's an efi model you might be able to remap it.

Reflashing did help on the 800s. Had a bunch come into the shop with this problem. Just kinda now paying attention to the exhaust system on the 1k and with that massive silencer leading into the spark arrestor,I can see why they probably run so blamed hot. 800s or none of the others were that restrictive on the exhausts systems.Trying to contain costs would be one guess why they went that way,but imo channeling this heat into a dual exhaust system someway probably would help.

Polaris isn't the only one that you have problems with warranty issues. There's probably so much small print in every "limited" warranty that almost exempts the manufacturer from having to fix a lot of problems. Still a superhot exhaust should fall under the category of manufacturer defects and should be fixed regardless of whether the machine is under warranty or not. It can be considered a safety issue. Its just something that Polaris should fix because its the right thing to do whether a warranty says they have to do it or not.

Take it in for the reflash, no exhaust on the planet will do what a new software reflash will.

If you cancel the extended warranty, the remaining credit is sent to the issuing dealer. After they receive the check from the insurance company, the dealer writes a check to you. Dealers don't hold out fees or such.Owner gets the full amount due them. At least that's how GE did it for us. Kinda strange that the dealer got the check and then had to turn around and give the same amount to the owner...Things may be different with other insurance carriers. A lot of the time when this happened, the extended warranties were canceled by the adjusters themselves not by the owner. This happened if machines were altered, radiators relocated, modifications, etc and people were claiming warranty coverage for damage which wouldn't be your case.

The smartest thing to do would probably be to take it to them for the reflash but their 2.5 hrs away and I really don't wanna leave it there for them to play on it or leave it outside in the elements after the last dealership ordeal so I'm gonna install that slipon and hope it resolves the issue if not I'll reinstall the oem exhaust and take it to them but really trying to avoid that and it's close to huning season and no telling how long they will have it
