1994 400L transmission repair

Im not sure but am guessing these dogs are rounded.

First dog in the picture is damaged. Probably why you had engagement problems. Always check the mating gears as they may need to be replaced also.

old polaris tech - can you comment why to replace the silent chain? I have a case open right now, and if I need to replace the chain, well, better do it.

Because the chain is one of the first things that usually stretches and cause problems. No sense in tearing a gear case back apart for a 40 buck chain. Just search all the posts on the silent chain. Just like the Fram commercial: Pay me now or pay me later.
