do I need 4wd on the scrambler

I want to buy the scrambler 400 and was wondering if I needed 4wd I would be riding in a little mud a lot of sand would I stll be able to go through them if I only had 2wd
does the 4wd make a bog diffrence

With the stock tires the 4WD makes a BIG difference in the sand. If you bought paddles though you'd be just fine. I don't know how much mud you mean... I mess around in mud sometimes & 4WD drive makes all the difference. Plus with 4WD it makes the Scrambler an awesome hillclimber.
Like I said, mud is a big difference. But sand you can buy paddles for.

I think if you were going to ride in really deep mud, you would want the 4wd, but if you are mainly buying it for sand the 2wd would be fine, I have a 99 sport which is basicaly the 2000 scrambler with yellow plastic, and it will go through almost anything key word though (ALMOST)
