my ridin buddy has six quads and they are all modded.hes got 3 warriors,2 banshees, and a 400 4x4 scrambler.so most of the time we go riding he brings a extra quad in case we break one or something.in the winter he normaly rides the polaris and in he summer his modded banshee.the otherday were out at our regular spot and two 400ex's show up,i had never raced the so called greatest quad on earth so i was very curious to see how one ran.so after mentioning this to my buddy he un loads the polaris and goes and asks if these two want to race.of course the say yeah thinking the polaris doesnt stand a chance.so all of the people in our group went over and watched.the first race five of us lined up,two ex's a ds650,polaris and my raptor, the two big bores finished first bar to bar then the polaris about 5 lengths behind and one ex trailing, the other flipped over backwards at the start.haha.so the ex's and polaris lined up themselves and raced three more times.the polaris won every time, but they were close.you should of herd the excuses these guys had "well the magazines say there real fast in the woods bla bla bla".funny, they didnt want to go ride in the woods with us dont know why?im not saying the honda is crap, you just should have seen the look on these guys face when they got beat four times by a scrambler.it was like well the magazine said the ex is faster.

That is funny, everyone told me I would not stand a chance if I raced a 400ex with my not stock 400 scrambler 4x4.so this is good to know that I do.

I am glad people are posting the truth, I have a friend with a stock 1996 Xpress 400, has the liquid cooled 400 2 stroke. He has never lost to a 400EX in a race. yeah he doesn't win by allot but he always wins. It is funny 400EX's always are the best running quads till they loose a race then suddenly they are not running right.

For some unknown reason(maby big bribes to mag. writers, honda is a very rich organization) Honda is the media sweethart in comparison tests. Its always funny to read. They constantly make excuses why the Honda lost most of the catagories and then tell you the glorious Honda wins again.
Yes most of us with Scramblers have races the 400EX and won. Its just a fact. But then we all know if its ritten in a Mag it has to be true. Right?

ya in the mag they say that the scrambler 500 2x4 only went 58 but then the 400 ex went 65. those arent actual numbers well at least for the scrambler. my scrambler stock was clocked a 70. so the magisines dont tell the truth

a Scrambler is quite a bit faster than my Sportsman it will go right by me when I am tapped out at 58 or so on the speedo, even if this is only 55 the are at least going 63-65. We clocked the Xpress 400 with my Pathfinder at 65 mph on tar. And it had a little more to go, he figures he could have hit close to 70. He can out run a 400EX top end.
