Look at the wiring schematic. Purple/violet wires are for reverse functions.These wires are just left over/not used on the Trail Boss.A lot of harnesses have wires that aren't used and left dangling. The harness could have been used on other machines that may have used them plus these wires can be used for options such as back up lights,etc.
