steering

Could explain a little more in detail as to what it's doing.. Steering post, upper and lower bushings and tie rods.Simple system. If it's pulling or jerking from one side or another, problem could be in the hubs.

That makes even less sense than your first post..
The only thing off the top of my head is if a rear u-joint or joints on this older style drive shaft was bad. I've had them worn out to where it was hard to keep them tracking straight or the rear end would kick out some.

Crank it up while in the air and have the awd on. See if both front wheels turn and that you can't stop them by force.Hit the awd button again for two wheel drive. If one front wheel keeps turning and you can't stop it,then that may be what your son in law meant. Steering would pull to one side while driving. This would normally be a mechanical problem. Hub could be dry, armature plate magnetized keeping the hilliard engaged, etc.

OK I did what you said, what I found was the right front wouldn't engage at all it free spins with no resistance, the left front stays engaged in 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive.might have more than 1 problem on my hands, never worked on a ATV but I worked on locomotives for 37 years. just have to adjust.
