Sportsman 500 front shock replacement
I purchased a 1998 SP500 this spring and mounted a cycle country manual lift plow for the first time after painting it and trail riding the atv this summer. I noticed the front end dropped quite a lot with the plow up and decided to make some spring spacers from 2" PVC.
When I had the coil spring off on the front, the shock piston does not extend out on its own, I can push it down or pull it up with some resistance. Is this correct or will it cause any issues?
I have it all put back together for now and the plow now only sags about 1/2" instead of the 2"+ it was.
Is it normal for these shocks to not have pressure?
Also, if the the cartridges must be replaced, does there happen to be a parts store number that will interchange?
Thanks!
Isaiah

Shock is worn out if the shaft wont rise on its own. Several different brands such as Bronco,Kimpex and other no name cartridges out there. Just use google. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Spo...VZ-K9z&vxp=mtr
