Default Stuck front axle Sportsman 500

I have a Polaris Sportsman 500 HO 2005 and my front axle cv joint went bad so im trying to pull the whole axle off. At first i just tried to pull it out by hand and it didn't work, then i tried using a slide hammer, didnt work. So i took the front housing off then took the lower part of the axle off of and split the u joint. I tied the whole thing to a tree and used a tow rope to try to pull the other part of the u joint out, i broke the tow rope before i could get it out. So i dont know what to do. There doesnt appear to be any damage to the front housing both sides still spin freely. Here are pictures of it:

2005 sportsman 500 shows a cv drive shaft not a u-joint at the case, plus had a centralized awd gear case.Worse comes to worst on this one(whatever year model it is),pull the other drive shaft out(if you can) and impact the stuck yoke out from the inside.Snap ring has either hung up or the yoke shaft is rusted in the splines. Jerking motion from a slide hammer always worked the best for me. Come a longs or ratchet straps don't really help that much.

It's a 04.5 OPT Its got those weird transition year u joint inners that plug into the diff. He probably needs it bolted down solid, a good soaking with PB and a big slide hammer or sledge with a chain to jerk them loose.

Yes the 2004 early and late model had the u-joint at the diff. Ditto on the PB Blaster, plenty of heat and either a rod through the yoke holes with a big hammer or a large slide hammer like we had at the shop.If we had to break out "Bertha" it had to be a tough one..

Sometimes you need a BFH, a Big Friggin' Hammer. But don't ever send your wife to the store for a sledgehammer. I made that mistake a long time ago. Instead of an 8 pound sledgehammer I was pounding fence posts in with a 12 pounder. The 50% extra weight is totally unnecessary and makes it hard to handle.
