Default 2010 Predator 90 any good for 8 year old son?

Looking at upgrading my son's bike. Currently has one of those 50cc 2 stroke Chinese mini bikes but he's way to big for that. 8 year old but pretty big.
I have been looking at the new Chinese mini quads (he wants a quad now), they're all 110 and 125 cc and either automatic or 3 speed. I am a bit scared of the Chinese stuff though...

Today I found a used, very good looking 2010 Predator 90. Don't know nothing about them. Are they any good for starters? Are they 2 stroke or 4 stroke? Do they have reverse? Anything I need to look at specifically if I go look at it? I have a Predator 500 and a Scrambler 500 myself so I liked the idea of a Predator for my son as it is a nice low sitting quad.

Regards Dennis

Same basic engines used in Eton atvs,Dinli and couple others. Polaris has been using Taiwan based Aeon motors to produce their youth machines since 2001. Aeon Motor Overall they were pretty dependable, better quality control than those no name mainland Chinese atvs plus a good parts network. The later 4 stroke models(2007 up) have a longer engine life span than the earlier 2 stroke models. If you find one in good condition at a good price, about as good as the rest of the youth models in their price range.

Bike looks really great from the pictures. I have contacted the owner but no response yet. Might be closed because of the holiday today. Looks to be a dealer. Asking 1300€ (1400-1500$)
New Chinese are in the 900-1000€ here.

Very clean youth model. Outlaw,Predator Scrambler,Sportsman were all the same, just body work differences. You can use this for a guide, but guess Canadian prices are higher.2010 Polaris Outlaw 90 Prices and Values - NADAguides

Today I went to look at the bike. Nice and clean bike. Has a disc brake in the rear as an extra.

But I was surprised to see it was a 2 stroke... VIN number said 2005. It was advertised as being a 2010...

starts right up. Rides good. Brakes need being used I guess, squeel a bit but pads are good. Tires still the original ones.

I bought it anyway...

It's still a clean machine. Plastic may have been changed out,but as long as it runs good. ALL the Polaris 2 strokes from 2001-2006 had drum rear brakes. This is a plus if he had a aftermarket rear disc upgrade. IF it came with it originally the machine may be another brand other than Polaris. Not that big of a deal as several machines used the same basic engine, frame, controls, etc. Some brands did a have a rear disc brake as standard.

The guy who sold it to me said that he sold both bikes (he had another identical one as this one) new back in the day and that the owner, a close friend to him wanted him to fit a disc brake. The other one indeed had a drum brake.

the front lights don't seem to work, and I don't see a switch. Are they always on? Rear is on all the time...

Lights are sealed. No replacement bulbs are shown. Check connectors. Been too long for me to remember on the lights, but this cheap manual does especially with the wiring diagram that can help you.. Outlaw,Predator,Sportsman all the same. Just different body plastic.2005 Polaris Outlaw 90 Service Manual PDF Download
