Default 1987 Polaris Trail Boss.... I think???

So I inhearated a old Polaris and wish there was a way to upload photos to make this easier. Everything I was told was that it’s a 1987 Polaris trail boss. However when I’m looking for a transmission I’m not finding what I have on there now. I bought one from Bay last week and showed up today and it’s the wrong one. I’m out here in the San Diego area and having a hard time finding someone who is able to rebuild this transmission. I was not able to put it into drive or reverse. When I would it would grind really bad and either pop into gear or not go into gear. Any help would be great because his is the last thing holding up this project and need to get it complete before hunting season.

Look on the right down frame. Should be a W86,87 and the serial # on the other side.IF you're lucky you have an engine sticker with the engine number. If you do the first two digits is the year model.

so it is an W86 so I will take it that it’s an 86. So now my next question is where to find a transmission.

First one is your model gear case, second one is from the W867527. See if you can see any difference. Both have the shifter on the gear case.My thoughts are either one would work. Possible you got a later model that had the shift becranks on the gear case and had the shifter at the front..?

I don’t see a difference. Looks like the first one is mine. Just need to find one that works or someone to rebuild the one I have. Any idea on where I might be able to find one or someone to rebuild it. Garage is filled with projects and this one is my priority.

I appreciate all the help. Was hoping to hear someone had one somewhere besides eBay. I am going to call around to some shops this weekend and see what they have to say. I appreciate all the help.
