Default 2003 sportsman 500 over heating

Well the fan isnt going on. But works cause i jumped it and it went on. The over heat light comes on after like 5-10 mins of riding. When the light comes on the fan only gets 2.7 volts going to it. Ive read about sensors going bad. But if the sensor was bad wouldn't the light on the dash stay off?

the sensor does strange things and they are known for being the issue. most likely that's the issue with the fan not working. also just check to make sure the radiator isn't plugged with mud as well just to make sure.

I regularly wash it out and drive through water. Ill try a new sensor. But they are pricey
