Default Polaris oil

Hi folks, new member here with a question regarding the correct oil for my polaris 425 xpedition. My nearest dealer is two hours away so obtaining oem oil is inconvenient but not impossible. As an alternative I was wondering what other oil can be used safely in my machine? Someone mentioned Rotella t6 5w40 but I couldn't find that brand locally. Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Full synthetic 0w-40 is what they used to use. I still do to this day. Mobil 1 is a good choice in my opinion.

The oil that they recommended over the years seems to have changed. From what I've read most say it's a 5w-50 now. Could be wrong but I dont research it. Been using 0w-40 for YEARS. Never been an issue.

Thanks Harley. I have seen other posts saying shy away from the Mobil 1 because of the wet clutch. Thoughts?

Didn't catch the expedition part. It does have a wet clutch. Most Polaris dont. That's a rare breed here. Haven't dealt with many expeditions but I know they have had mobil 1 with no issues from the very few we have seen here in my area. Sorry. Maybe i should read slower! 😬

If you have a wet clutch, you can use oil for diesel motors. That's what I use in my bikes. Oil choices are still pretty wide. Mobil 1 makes one if you wanted to stay with that brand. Look for the JASO/MA rating in whichever brand you choose.

Most are 5w-40 too.
