Stumped on Hawkeye Sound
Hey guys, long time lurker giving up and asking for help.
I have a 2006 Polaris Hawkeye and have noticed a slapping or clacking sound coming from the clutch area around 5 mph and then it disappears. So far I have replaced a half shaft (needed it), the belt, and the clutch cover bearing.
It makes it only while in drive or reverse. The odd thing is when I have the clutch cover off it does not make the noise, but when it's on it makes a slapping or clacking sound. It sounds like a normal polaris sound just much louder. I do not notice a lot of slack on either of the belts I have tried. Could it be the drive clutch roller bearings? I also thought about replacing those vinyl slides on the drive clutch. Any ideas?
