Default 02 scrambler 50

Hello, let me start be saying im new to this forum stuff although I read through them a lot Because of the educational benefits of real life experiences. That being said I have a question. I bought a used 02 scrambler 50 for my daughter. When I picked it up. The guy started it and I ran fine. Drove it to my trailer, about 50 yards, and again it was fine. I got it home, started it up, it ran for about 5 min. And died. After that it will start and run for about 5 seconds and die. Same story every time. It will start at first. Than start and die once it seems to “warm up”. Could it be the electric choke? It seems to loose fuel. I have checked the fuel filter, made sure fuel runs when I pull the fuel line off. So I’m at a loss. Thanks in advance.

By "seems to loose fuel" do you mean it's coming out the overflow tube, or just needs topping off frequently? If the former, the float bowl could be stuck. Sometimes you're lucky and can tap on the side of the bowl to free it, but in the long run should go into the carb and clean it up.
The choke does sound suspect. If it starts cold, but then bogs and dies after it's warming up, it could be either the choke is staying on (flooding) or it's shutting off correctly and the pilot jet is clogged and it's too lean.

The electric chokes on a lot of kid's quads don't work very well, if at all.

I meant it acts like it’s not getting fuel to the carb. I might just buy a new carb with manual choke and try that. It’s like 20 bucks on Ebay. Thanks for the feed back. I’ll let you know what happens.
