What do you use for recovery from getting stuck just push yourself out, get pulled out by a riding buddy, winch out. And what do you carry to be recovered with. I carry a tow chain made out of two old snow chain's it varies in length from 2ft-14ft. Thinking about replaceing with a tow strap that's about 12 ft because of wieght in tool box.

I use Mule tape which is used by telephone and electical guys to pull wire along distance through conduit. The stuff I have is about 2500lbs. It is extremely light and made of Kevlar which gives it it's stregth. I also use nylon chokers. The only time I carry chain is when I'm draging logs out. A toe strap would be your best bet unless you can find some Mule tape at electrical contactors shop.
HAPPY TRAILS!!!

I use my winch and I have a coiled cable lock, you can wrap it around a tree and put your winch hook thru the loops. No damage to the tree, and it coils right back up for compact storage.

I use my warn winch if no one is there to pull me out, I really like the winch otherwise when i am by myself i am afraid to go through an mud/water. I also have a ten foot tow rope but i think a longer strap would work better, my rope always seems to short, plus the tow straps are smaller when rolled up than a rope.

I carry a 12 foot tow rope. but I seriously shoud consider a winch for my Sportsman, it is heavy and when it gets stuck it is stuck.

I like being able to push myself out of what I get stuck in rather than go get a tractor to pull me out of a creek like your Xplorer requires

Easter I got the sportsman stuck in the middle of the swamp behind the house. When I felt it start to sink I knew it was getting stuck so I turned to the only tree around, it was about 250 feet away. After a futile attempt of trying to lift and rock it I gave up and waded to land. I grabbed my heavy log chains and the tow strap and waded back to the sportsman only to be about 40 feet short of the tree. So now I have to wade back to the house, change clothes and drive 25 miles round trip to get more chain and straps from two different friends. Wade back to the sportsman to winch the stupid thing about ONE FOOT to get unstuck and then drive right throught the middle part of the swamp thats even deeper than where I was stuck. Made for a fun afternoon the wife had A perfect view from the house. Now I will be buying more straps because its no fun wadeing through 2 feet of mud and water with 50-60lbs of chain on your shoulders. And a box so I don't need to drive or walk to get them!!!
