Uhmmm as for pics none at the moment lol

Only update I have is wiring seems to be good thanks to your help

What Im struggling with right now is when I bought the atv the very front sprocket for the 4x4 the one that sits on the right axle the teeth were broke off so I removed it bought a new one and I'm trying to put the new one on but I can't get it on the shaft because the frame is in the way is there a way to remove the front diff to replace the sprocket or sonthing its the right size and all I was only able to remove the old one cuz the old sprocket was snapped so it came off easy cuz it had room

Aldo after removing everything on the front hub I realized I need all new bearings and seals so I'm in the process of ording all that

Please take a few pics of where the sprocket goes and post them here. I had to completely rebuild my front drive assembly on my 1987 trail boss (bearings and seals) and the whole assembly came out pretty easily. So I am having trouble visualizing what you are seeing.

You should be able to slide that front drive axle out of the eccentric housing to get the sprocket on it. This will remove the seal and bearings on the other side but you will want to take the whole thing out anyway to inspect the bearings and seals. Unfortunately, I have not had to take mine apart on my Xplorer but I did on my 1987 Trailboss and it came apart pretty easy. I think I just hit the axle with a mallet and a piece of wood to get it started and then it just came apart. Good thing I did too because my bearings and seals were completely shot but the luckily the front drive axle was fine.

I just checked the pic and it looks like you will want to remove a tightener and o-ring on the other side first. Clean this area up really good on both sides of the eccentric housing. Hopefully you will see how it comes apart.

Good luck

OK good to know I'll update you and let you know how it goes

On another note do you know anything about how to get better tourqe/bottom end on these machines...

Like what spring for the clutches would give better bottom. End I know I can't mess with the chain sprockets Cuz it will screw with the 4wd

I eventually plan on up grading the reeds and buying a carb kit and better air filter for performance but I'm wondering what can be done with the clutch springs

Sorry, I don't know anything about clutch modifications for more low end torque. Of course you can always go in low gear for more torque at slow speeds.

I don't think investing a lot of money in a higher end clutch parts like from epiperformance.com is worth it in these older atvs. You could easily spend more money than the atv is worth. If you need more low end torque or speed you would probably be much better off purchasing a more modern ATV with a larger displacement engine and EFI and if that is not fast enough then start upgrading things like the clutch.

Keep us posted on what you learn about improving clutch performance if you decide to pursue it.

Good luck!

Oh I totally agree with you putting a after market clutch kit in this thing is most deffinetly not worth but stiffer springs are only about 30 to 50 dollers so I figured why not lol

I just want the tires to spin In deep mud and not bog out

I will post again when I figure out getting the sprocket on wich I will do when bearings and cv boots arrive In the mail soon

If it is cheap enough it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Looking forward to seeing the progress pics.

Good luck!

So not much progress but I got all the wheel and strut bearings and seals done its so cold right now outside I haven't been doing much to it

Stilling tinkering with a lift kit and haven't found any info on clutch springs..

Only other thing I've done with it is make a home made rad relocate bracket

And still trying to find out what the best way to snorkle this thing is what type of hoses to run from clutch and air box and what size pvc piping to use etc..
