just sold sp500 and picked up new HO today. there is no holes on left side near gas tank that is for belt vent? My buddies has the holes. Second after riding about 2 miles, easy going the clutch is acting wierd. If you stop, give it some throttle takes about 1 sec and the clutch snaps in!!! What is going on? my 2000 sp didnt do that... any ideaS?

The best idea I have is WARRANTY. It sounds like a factory problem in the drive train.Therefor (DONT TOUCH IT) take it back .

My '98 SP500 had the holes, my new HO does not. From what I have read it's not supposed to. Don't know about the clutch, I'd call the dealer. I've had mine a week, 115 miles, and running great. I hope your dealer can help.

Are you sure about the holes? they are near the front of the seat on the left. a circular pattern. looks like large drill bit holes. All the pictures of HO's i see have them. check out polaris industries dot com. Does anyone else with an ho have these holes?

There's no HO's with holes. Try riding the machine for awhile. Things do need to break in.

Someone posted the same "holes" question a while back, and everyone came to the same conclusion that the H.O. did not come with the vent holes. My '01 H.O. also has a bit of lag in the throttle as compared to the '99. But nothing that feels like it warrants much concern.

The 2001 models DO NOT have the holes. It is part of the upgraded waterproofing. Theory is that water went through those holes and could get into the PVT vent.

RELAX.....it's a great quad and you'll love it. I wouldn't trade mine for three Rubicons.
