Default Polaris sport 400L leaking

Hello everyone. My first post on here! I just purchased a 1999 Polaris sport 400L
I had some fuel leaking from the bigger tube by the rear shock took the carb apart seated the needle everything looked good put back together and now leaking through the smaller tube on the left of the rear shock ?? And when i Say leaking I mean puking out even when Its rolling flat... even when gas is off??? Any help is appreciated.

Also where can I find the counter balance drain & fill plug?? THANK YOU!! Pictured below is both tubes!! Only leaking out of the smaller one now

UPDATE!!! RAN THE QUAD WITH GAS OFF TO CLEAR LINES THE LEAK HAS STOPPED FOR NOW. CARB WAS GOOD MAYBE JUST DIRT IN LINE OR LOOSE BOLT????

AFTER LAST UPDATE I LET QUAD SIT FOR 2 HOURS GAS STARTED TO LEAK AGAIN (still in off position) and quad started right up???

Well it sounds to me like you need to order a complete carb rebuild kit and a new fuel pitcock
Carb should never leak fuel and leaking indicates a bad needle and seat.
The fuel pitcock is bad as the fuel is not shutting off when in the off position.
For the counter balance it would be best if you find a online PDF manual and study it for this info.

Hey thanks for reply! So you think this is 2 different issues? Non related? I just had the carb rebuilt also . The little tube pictured above runs through some small white & red thing and runs into the carb. Is that the fuel filter?

Welcome, just trying to help. Remember im no expert though and just give info from my experience.
That red and white thing is more a check valve. lets fuel out but also keeps water from back flowing into the carb
The reason fuel is coming out of it is because the needle and seat are not sealing when the carb is full. This problem can lead to a host of other problems if not fixed. Could also be a bad float or miss adjusted float.
Yes two separate problems and both need fixed.
The fuel filter will be on the feed line to the carb.

If the fuel petcock is off you should not see any fuel leaking from the carb overflow tube

Default Update

Hey so i have found the counter balance dipstick tried draining it and nothing came out... Added synthetic 10w30 hope no damage was done from previous owner...
Also ordered a petcock valve for my shutoff!

I have taken my carb apart again still leaking out overflow , adjusted it clean put back together still leaking, thought ide give it another shot. So I guess I should order a carb rebuild kit?

Make sure the float is set correct and good. Make sure everything is clean! A small speck of grit can keep the needle from seating as it should.
If all that is good a good kit should cure that problem.
