Default 97 sportsman 500

Hey,I been trying to get an old 97 500 sportsman up and running for my 16 yr old son.But I am having alot of trouble finding parts since polaris discontinued alot of the parts.I should have given up when I could not get bulbs for the headlights. The engine runs, aside from the flywheel is missing some magnets and it will not charge.Long story short,I picked up a 2005 400cc classic, with an aparent blown engine. What i need to know,is can i dump the 500 engine into the 400 frame, and will the flywheel from the 400 fit the 500.Also will the starter solenoid from the 500 match electronically with the 400's electric components.Sorry for the long text but I am so far $ wise into it,that I refuse to accept defeat. Thanks

Welcome to the forums. If you got to a sight that sells oem parts, and has the parts diagrams, you can check between the models and see which use the same number.

And there's the saying that anything fits, with enough cash.
