Is my drive belt slipping?

I think I’m posting in the right spot.
Sometimes when I get the manual 2004 Polaris Xpedition up to speed at a higher gear, particularly on roads, i would describe it as almost downshifting halfway, it starts to make a noise as if it were revving extremely high, and I can shift it back up and it seems to work relatively the same but I generally shift all the way down and stop it before going again. It has a manual foot shift. I’m no expert on this so how I described it could be different from someone with experience on this.
