I just bought a 2000 sportsman 500.I wanted to get a fuel guage but the dealer said polaris doesn't make one for the 500, because of the tank setup. Does anyone know of an aftermarket guage that will work?

They do make a gauge. I've got a Sportsman and have a gauge that is in the gas cap that is similar to that of a riding lawn mower. The cap has a metal piece protruding into the tank that has a float connected to it that moves with the fuel and works the gauge on the top of the cap.
BushHog (It will cost around $15)

I had a similar experience. I wanted one for my y2k expedition 425. They gave me one they thought fit. It did not fit. They changed the
design of the tank and the gauges they had previously would not even screw on. I figured
I would just wait a while and check back in 6 months. Well, maybe the guy above found what will work for you.... chet

I agree w/cob, I got one and it's a waste of money. It doesn't read right, and if you're like me and hunt off of your ride, it makes
ALOT of noise at the least little bit of movement. Save your money.
