THROTTLE QUESTION
#1
Has anyone had any problems with the ETC/throttle on there Polaris? I have had mine adjusted by the dealer, and I know when it needs adjusted the engine starts running a little rough. Well now Im having problems with the way the engine is running and wondering if the ETC could be the problem. Any help is appreciated.

I was told and have experienced this, it relates to the amount of play in throttle it should be only 1/8" at most. you can adjust this by uncovering the tensioner which is on the throttle cable about 2 inches from the "black box" on the right side of the bars. This covering is rubber 2 piece of rubber which overlap and cover this adjuster. With the machine idling, loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster to take the play out of the thumb throttle, when done slide the rubber back over it. My 500 and the 335 I had both did this, they would backfire some when letting off during hard trail riding, after couple hundred miles I havent had to do this since. I believe when cables are new, during use there will be some stretch, then it should stay that way during its life, they all continue to stretch but not as much as when they are new. SO check this out, activate the throttle without it running if there is more than a little play in it do the adjustment, it should run better for you.
