Hey everyone, I have a '97 SP500, we do lots of mud riding and it has taken a toll on my plastic. After washing, the plastic tends to turn to the terrible white effect. I've been told that 600 then 1200 then 2400 grit (wet) sand paper will remove the white and bring back the green(but still no sheen). Or is there a better way? Has the plastic gone white from use of amourall/sonofagun? Will any cleaners or polishers help my problem?
Thanks.

Chuckie,

There is a product on the market called Plastic Renew. Some shops might carry it. It consists of sand paper and steel wool. It will allow you to sand out the scratches, then apply a coat of the Plastic Renew to restore the sheen to the plastic. I've heard it works, but if you can swing $200, why not get all new plastic.

Polaris plastic is fairly cheap compaired to some other stock and after market plastic. The neat thing is, just about all of the plastic for the utility models will fit each other. Imagine having the only blue sportsman on the trails!

Hope this helps!

Although my 96 Xplorer is not as bad as yours, I have found that Lemon Pledge works wonders in restoring the shine. The no-name brands do not work. Give it a try.
