Scrambler motor problems
#1
Got a 00 Scram a month ago. After less than 10 hours the thing breaks down on the trail. Just won't start after a normal trail break. Now the dealer's mechanic tells me the crank has a small gear (camshaft drive?)held on by a nut. The nut came loose and rubbed against the stator plate.
Coincidentially or not, when we were checking things over trying to get it started on the trail, the oil was over the high mark by about two inches, but no evidence of water or antifreeze. It was also very thin, almost the consistancy of water. Keep in mind the bike ran perfectly until we finished our break, then it just wouldn't start.
My questions are 1)any body with similar experiences or knowledge of such a problem, and 2)what if anything special should I demand of Polaris (new motor, lifetime warantee against similar failure, etc..)
BTW, we towed it 30 miles home with a 185lb rider over some serious terrain. The sportsman was flawless!
Any and all help greatly appreciated!
