Mudmachine,My 99 Sportsman crept on its own at Idle also.I took it in to the dealership.The clutches were GONE.340$ just for the clutches.Good Luck----- BILL

Mudmachine, unless your idle is waaaay too high there’s a problem with your clutch. It shouldn’t be grinding or creeping.

Adam is right, I was considering, or at least looking for feedback on, the aftermarket EBS clutch setups. A conversation with Jack Schultz last week convinced me to go another direction. The modifications he’s made to his non-EBS clutch have yielded the results I’m looking for. We’re going for the same effect, the difference is he’s going there with some knowledge and experience, so I’m waiting to see where he ends up to learn from his experimentation.

Hope your clutches aren't gone... Sure hurts the "good deal" effect on a used quad. :-(

Yeah.. I was worried about the same thing...
So, I dove in head first this morning... it was the plastic buttons...
I replaced them and everything is ok now...
I just have to remind myself that the IDIOT that owned it before me and flipped it 3 times in only 4 1/2 months... He probably used high gear for hill climbing because he wanted to go high up the hill...
Anyway.. its all good now...

 

$5 for buttons is cheaper than $500 for clutches! I just recently replaced mine too.
