I have a 99 magnum 500 and I love it. I havent measured the ground clearance, but it is considerably less than the sportsman because of the straight axle in the rear. The straight axle has advantages though. I have 3000 miles on it with no major problems yet. A friend has a Sportsman with similar mileage and has had to replace all the U-joints in the rear suspension already. The magnum also handles better than the sportsman and is about as fast as the H.O. because of the lighter weight.
Im guessing that the ground clearance in the rear is about 10 to 11 inches. The front is the same as the sportsman. We do alot of hard trail riding and the magnums always get there first.
