Mountain Climbing with a SP500

The 4x4 system on Polaris is different than what's on your Kodiack, or the Grizzly. The Yamaha's are engaged mechanicaly meaning parts are locking together (in a way...) as where the Polaris uses magnets to turn the front wheels that disengage when the rear tires find traction, to ease steering.
That's very few details, but there are some threads if you search that go in pretty deep about how the Polaris 4x works, the others more simple.
Basicaly the EBS only brakes the rear wheels, in most cases, because they wouldn't be spinning faster than the fronts making the 4wd system think they lost traction. In most cases, this won't be a problem and you won't notice it. On really steep down hills or slippery ones, it can make you desend the hill like a 2wd. Sometimes you can fool the 4wd system into making the front wheels grab as well, but it's not worth the effort in most cases.
