I have been having problems with my TrailBoss stalling. Seems like when I let off the gas to go down hills or even sometimes just idleing and it just dies. Starts right back up but what the heck is the deal here? I have adjusted the idle to componsate for this but then 20 minutes later it's idleing too fast and vibrating like crazy. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone else has had this same trouble. Thanks.

Have you checked the airfilter? How about the spark plug? Running right octane of gas?

The air filter is ok i haven't checked the plug, but we've only had it for 2 months. I run premium gas in it just because that's what I get for my Mojave. It just acts like the carb is acting up. It will be fine for half of the day then all of a sudden it will stall when I'm going down hills or right after I come off the throttle and it will barely idle. So I adjust the idle and it's fine for a while then all of a sudden it's idleing too fast. It's one of those type things that a dealer probably wont do much about under warranty because it's intermitent. Maybe I'll just go ahead and change the plug, might have got a bad one.

I've had similiar problems with my 200 Tboss. It never wants to idle when cold (used to idle great) and I have the idles very high when warm. The idle speed seems to change all the time. I cleaned the filter and put in a new plug, no help. I'm planning on cleaning out the carb next.

Hey, all of a sudden, my 325 is having the same problem, I just had it in the shop to replace the float and I thought maybe the guys had messed something up when they were working on it but that couldn't be it cause it ran fine when I got it back. Mine also stalls when I have the throttle down for a while, it is really bad when climbing hills, which isn't good cause I don't like getting half way up and then slidding back down. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a 2000 TrailBoss and I don't have this problem at all. I'm running regular unleaded gas as instructed by my dealer. Doesn't seem like that should make any difference though.

Sounds like this problem is catchy, please let me know what you guys find out.

Check and make sure there is no dirt in the gas tank. Sometimes dirt gets in and settles on the bottom where the gas leaves the tank into the tube and clogs the screen. it will go away for a while but settle again Just a thought.

I HAD THE SAME PROB ON MY BOSS ...WHEN EVER I LET OFF THE GAS IT WOULD BOG DOWN AND SHUT OFF....I LATER LEARNED THAT I HAD THE GAS CAP ON TO TIGHT ..IT WASNT ALLOWING ANY AIR IN THROUGH THE TANK.. I LOOSENED IT A BIT AND IT HAS BEEN FINE EVER SINCE...I DONT KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP BUT IT HELPED ME

You might check the gas vent tube. That should vent the tank rather than loosening the cap. They do clog on occaision. Disconnect it from the tank and blow through it and also check it for crimps around the handlebar stem.

I had somewhat of the same problem on my 2000 scrambler, at first it would idle just fine and then after hitting the throttle a few times it would idle much faster. What I found was that by hitting the choke in the opposite direction of on (pushin down on it) the idle would go from being really high to right where it should be. All I had to do was adjust the choke. Maybe something to check.
