I would reccomend checking the adjustment of the throttle cable, When I had the same problem on my mag I found too much slack in the cable. I just gave it a couple of twists and it worked fine. One dead give away that this is your problem is if you can move the cable housing, at the handlebars and make it run right. If so adjust the cable.
