What kind of decrease should i be seeing in the oil compartment after a ride?

The shop only had 1 gallon of premix for my quad. I burned all that out an put some 87oct. in and rode for about and hour but didnt notice much of a difference in the oils height in the container. Should I premix another gallon or so or ride to see what happens? Maybe I am just paranoid that the oil injection dosent work. Who knows?

Thanks for the help!

If you have an oil-injection and you are still premixing oil you WILL foul out your spark plug.

An easy check... Take out your spark plug and look at it. If it has a "thick" black coating on it (it is carbon) it is on the way to foul out. If it is relatively clean then check the setting on the injector pump.

Also...Check your owners manual on which octane fuel to use. If it says 87 it wont hurt it to use anything higher it is just a waste of money to buy it.

It doesn't hurt a thing to pour 1/2 cup or so of oil in with your full tank of gas. I do it on my wifes 400 (insurance) and I've never even pulled the spark plug out of the engine, & we ride every week for a year. If you do many engine mods, or add a pipe, I woud reccommend adding a little extra oil. Just to be safe, every time you fill you gas, fill your oil.

My 99 Sport uses hardly any oil at all. I've had it ten months, ride it a lot, and have just now used the last of the gallon I bought when I got it. I put a little in about every five rides. You'll know if the injection quits by the sound of the engine. If you can't tell by the sound of the engine, you'll know when it blows up. But seriously, they use very little oil

Yes, they do use very little oil, but still check the level prior to every ride.

Just another tip, spend the extra $2-4 and use premium pump (92+)!. I know guys who will only run 87 in their trucks, but would never use it in their ATV's.

I was told by the dealer that anything above 89 octane was to hot to run in a quad. I have a pipe and clutch kit on my 99 Sport, what do you think? Also, I used to run premium in my Yamaha utility, I noticed better performance when I switched to 89.
