Scrambler 500 vs. 400EX

Glad you asked...I had one heck of a play day on Tuesday...
I am uninformed about the 400 versus 300 diferences, but I think they are in the same or similar frame size??
Well, for the last 4 months, my friend Rick has been belittling my Polaris choice. He has a 300EX, with over $4000 in hop up kits and he has a solid racing past.
I ride at a lake in the Poconos with hundreds of miles of trails, so I have been inviting him to join me for a whupping.
Yesterday, he actually came. The conditions? Icy rain, 35 degrees, iced trees, slick paths. Perfect quad weather.
He ate my mud all day and is disgusted with his machine. I am still dead stock, except for my snowmobile styled handle bar hand booties.
The reason he had zero chance? Rough trails. His suspension, or lack of suspension from my view, made his souped up motor useless. Where I just flew over the rough stuff, he had to manuever around and over it. His shifting was a joke in the tight trails.
I had this exact same experience with a Banshee friend last week.
Both of them, after 30 minutes of riding, said that they were SELLING their machines and picking up a Scrambler. The Banshee owner has given his Banshee to his wife, so come spring, I know his plan.
This is not a brag; most Scrambler owners have the same type stories to tell.
But I was surprised. I have been worried about how badly these guys would beat me on their performance quads.
OKAYOKAY, sorry I wanted to post this anyways, and I did not ride against a 400 yet. But if they dont have several more inches travel than the 300, I cannot see how the 400 could improve much on the rough trails...
What a gas. And ANOTHER Polaris convert.
