Can a SC 500 beat my 400 EX to 40 mph ??

With good traction you should be able to pull him, with low traction he will hole shot you bad (assuming he has 4x4) but you would just be catching up about 40mph I would guess. Just be glad he isn't getting a 400 with some mods on it, I have one and have wasted several 400ex's on it in drag races and through some rough trails. The ex has much better suspension but if your a big guy you can buffalo the Scramblers around better than some would think.

Andrew,
If I'm not mistaken, your Scrambler is pretty heavily modded out and a two stroke. This is something you can't do on the 500 four strokes he's talking about. Other than a complete rework of the engine (with turbo and nitrous to boot), you just aren't going to get much more horsepower out of the 500s. You can change the cam, add a pipe, put on a new carb and you still won't be at or even near our level of performance. I believe Polaris has done this for two reasons. One is the polution thing. The second is to keep people from modifying their machines to make them faster, thus less law suits.
